Air Conditioning Engineer
Location: Shrewsbury
Salary: £38,000 - £48,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
On-Call: 1 in 4 weeks (out-of-hours rota, paid accordingly)


Overview
An established and growing engineering business is seeking an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to join its team. This Air Conditioning Engineer role is ideal for a skilled professional with strong fault-finding ability and experience across a wide range of systems, offering long-term career progression within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, service, and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems as an Air Conditioning Engineer
  • Respond to both planned maintenance and reactive breakdown callouts
  • Work across a variety of commercial and industrial systems, including air handling units and chillers
  • Interpret and utilise technical documentation to support fault finding and repairs
  • Use mobile/tablet-based service management systems to record work and communicate updates
  • Participate in an out-of-hours call rota (1 in 4 weeks, paid accordingly)
  • Deliver high levels of customer service while maintaining quality and safety standards

Skills & Experience Required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an Air Conditioning Engineer or similar role
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across a broad range of AC and refrigeration systems
  • Experience with refrigeration and/or chiller equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and documentation
  • Comfortable using mobile devices and service management applications
  • Customer-focused approach with strong communication skills

Essential Requirements
  • F-Gas certification
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Proven track record as an Air Conditioning Engineer
  • Own hand tools
  • DBS clearance (or ability to obtain)
Desirable:
  • Additional refrigerant/gas certifications
  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications
