Job description
Facilities Management Contracts Manager – Mechanical Systems
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Management Contracts Manager to oversee the delivery of mechanical maintenance services across a large hospitality-focused estate. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of mechanical systems including heating, gas, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and cellar cooling systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Mechanical, Heating & Gas, Air Conditioning, and Cellar Cooling Engineers.
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, and minor works projects.
- Ensure all HVAC, gas, and mechanical systems are maintained to industry and client standards.
- Provide technical support for complex mechanical faults and system issues.
- Manage subcontractors, engineer scheduling, performance, and resource planning.
- Ensure compliance with Gas Safe, F-Gas, HVAC regulations, RAMS, permits to work, and health & safety procedures.
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships across the estate.
- Produce performance reports, asset insights, and improvement recommendations.
- Manage budgets, contractor costs, quotations, procurement, and invoice approvals.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, energy efficiency, asset improvement, and lifecycle planning.
- Support business growth, minor projects, refurbishments, and service improvements.
- Analyse CAFM data to improve asset reliability and reduce reactive maintenance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Services Manager, Contracts Manager, or Senior Mechanical Engineer role within Facilities Management.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Heating & commercial gas systems
- HVAC and ventilation systems
- Refrigeration and cellar cooling
- Air conditioning and mechanical plant
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance and maintenance procedures.
- Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and P&L performance.
- Excellent client-facing, organisational, and communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of CAFM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
