Reactive Electrician - West Midlands - Up to £43,000 + Van

Location: West Midlands / Birmingham & Surrounding Areas
Salary: Up to £43,000 Basic
Job Type: Full Time | Permanent
Role: Mobile Reactive Electrician

Reactive Electrician - West Midlands

Are you an experienced Electrician / Electrical Engineer who enjoys fault finding and reactive work rather than spending every day completing routine PPMs?

We're recruiting for a rapidly growing electrical and building services business that has established a strong presence across the North West and is now expanding quickly throughout the Midlands following continued contract wins.

As part of this expansion, they're looking for an experienced Reactive Electrician to cover commercial and hospitality sites across the West Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the business at an exciting stage of its growth, with a basic salary of up to £43,000, company vehicle and genuine opportunities to develop as the Midlands operation continues to expand.

What's on Offer?

  • Up to £43,000 basic salary

  • Company van

  • Permanent, full-time position

  • Predominantly West Midlands coverage

  • Growing portfolio of commercial and hospitality sites

  • Join a business experiencing significant growth

  • Continued investment across the Midlands

  • Ongoing training and development

  • Career progression as the regional operation expands

  • Varied reactive electrical workload

  • Long-term opportunity within a growing company

The Role

As a Reactive Electrician, you'll travel to commercial and hospitality properties throughout the West Midlands, responding to electrical faults, breakdowns and maintenance requirements.

This is a role for an electrician who genuinely enjoys problem solving and fault finding.

Rather than simply following the same maintenance schedule every day, you'll attend sites, investigate issues, identify the cause and complete repairs to get the customer's building back up and running.

You'll work independently across your region while being supported by the wider engineering and scheduling teams.

Key Responsibilities

Typical duties will include:

  • Attend reactive electrical maintenance call-outs

  • Diagnose electrical faults and identify solutions

  • Complete electrical repairs and remedial works

  • Fault finding across lighting and power systems

  • Carry out minor electrical installations

  • Electrical testing and inspection where qualified

  • Complete emergency repairs

  • Lighting repairs and replacements

  • Power and distribution faults

  • Electrical compliance works

  • Identify additional and follow-on works

  • Complete electrical certification where required

  • Accurately complete job reports and documentation

  • Liaise with internal scheduling and management teams

  • Communicate professionally with customers and site teams

  • Ensure all works comply with current electrical regulations

  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced electrician who is comfortable working independently across commercial customer sites.

Because this is predominantly a reactive position, you'll need strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

We're particularly interested in engineers who can arrive at a site, investigate an issue and confidently determine the best way to resolve it rather than relying solely on predetermined maintenance instructions.

You'll also need to be comfortable working in customer-facing environments, including busy commercial and hospitality properties.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

  • Strong electrical fault-finding experience

  • Commercial electrical maintenance experience

  • Experience carrying out reactive electrical repairs

  • Good understanding of current electrical regulations

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Ability to work independently

  • Professional customer-facing approach

  • Good communication skills

Desirable Qualifications

The following would be advantageous but aren't necessarily essential:

  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing

  • ECS / JIB Gold Card

  • IPAF

  • PASMA

  • EV Charging qualifications

  • Asbestos Awareness

  • Previous Facilities Management experience

  • Commercial or hospitality maintenance experience

Why Join?

This is an interesting time to join the business.

Having developed a strong operation across the North West, the company is now experiencing continued growth and securing increasing volumes of work throughout the Midlands.

The successful engineer will therefore be joining while the Midlands operation is still developing, providing the opportunity to establish themselves within the region as the customer base and engineering team continue to grow.

For someone who wants more than simply another mobile electrician position, joining during this stage of expansion could provide excellent longer-term opportunities.
