The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee engineering and maintenance operations across approximately 70 local sites in and around Ipswich.
This is a key leadership role managing a team of engineers, team leads, and grounds maintenance staff across a long-term commercial contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational performance, compliance, service delivery, extra works projects, and client relationships across the estate.
The Role
- Oversee day-to-day operations across a portfolio of commercial sites
- Manage a team of engineers, supervisors/team leads, and grounds maintenance operatives
- Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities are delivered effectively
- Drive compliance across electrical and building services systems
- Oversee extra works, small projects, and lifecycle works across the contract
- Support health & safety, statutory compliance, and operational standards across all buildings
- Monitor engineer performance, workload allocation, and service delivery KPIs
- Liaise closely with clients, subcontractors, and senior management teams
- Assist with budgeting, reporting, planning, and contract performance management
- Ensure high standards of customer service and operational efficiency across the business park and surrounding sites
Requirements
- Strong technical background with an electrical bias preferred
- Previous experience in an Operations Manager, Contracts Manager, or Senior FM leadership role
- Experience managing engineering teams within facilities management or building services
- Strong understanding of compliance, statutory maintenance, and hard services operations
- Experience overseeing commercial maintenance contracts and project delivery
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent desirable
