Salary: Up to £36,000 + 15% weekend shift allowance (rota-based)

Hours: 39 hours per week (rota-based including 1 in 3 weekends)

Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Plumber to join our on-site facilities management team at HMP Durham. This is a permanent role offering stability, a competitive salary, and additional weekend and on-call allowances.
As part of a critical maintenance team within a secure environment, you’ll be carrying out a range of routine and reactive plumbing tasks that contribute to the safety and efficiency of the prison estate.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and non-routine plumbing maintenance
• Diagnose and repair faults in mains water supplies and domestic systems
• Conduct inspections, water sampling, and risk assessments
• Identify and rectify life-expired equipment and associated issues
• Operate light plant equipment as required
• Ensure all tasks are completed in line with health and safety protocols
• Support wider estate maintenance and compliance as part of the FM team

• NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent)
• Full UK driving licence
• Proven experience in a commercial plumbing environment
• Ability to work on a rota, including 1 in 3 weekends and on-call shifts
• Comfortable working in a secure facility and passing security clearance

• Legionella Control (L8) certification
• Experience working within secure or high-compliance settings
• Familiarity with facilities management processes
