Fabric Supervisor

We are recruiting for a Building Fabric Supervisor to be based in our clients site near Chester. This is a permanent full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and company benefits package.

The role holder will report to the Technical Services Manager and will assist in the provision and delivery of a high quality Building maintenance service. The role will also include assisting in the operation, repair and maintenance of building fabric and engineering services while working within a multi-disciplinary hard service team environment.

Responsibilities / Duties include:

  • Lead and supervise the Building Fabric/Joinery team and relevant Sub Contractors to deliver an excellent service to the power station as set out in the contract output specification
  • Responsible for ensuring that all planned and reactive internal and external building fabric maintenance is delivered to contractual specifications and in compliance with all relevant standards and specifications
  • Regularly meet with directly employed staff (collectively irrespective of their trade function and individually), subcontractors and suppliers to discuss performance
  • Directly accountable for day to day Building Fabric matters to the Technical Services Manager
  • Contribute to ensure that building plant and equipment data and information is delivered in an accurate and timely manner to enable Lifecycle Planning to be developed
  • Responsible for promoting flexible working across all maintenance related disciplines, to ensure maximum efficiency with regard to use of manpower and resources
  • To actively identify continuing professional development requirements, and demonstrate progress towards enhancing knowledge and training
  • Responsible for the execution of any other estates and facilities related duties in an emergency/urgent situation, as directed by the Senior Management Team
  • To attend and participate in Training courses as required and to undertake any training in the future as may be required to ensure the duties of the post are effectively carried out or as required by the Senior Management Team
  • Managing and directing staff in a safe and efficient manner and conducting personal performance evaluations of staff in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Deliver training to staff on relevant subjects as appropriate to ensure experience is gained (e.g. tool box talks & trade specific subject matter)

The individual will play a vital role, working alongside an already established Hard Services team to ensure that the operations are legally and contractually compliant and represent excellence in service delivery. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a positive set of behaviours and a flexible approach to ensure contract compliance.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification in an appropriate Building Fabric discipline
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role
  • Must be able to manage people, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • A sound knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Construction Design and Management Regulations and show understanding of statutory maintenance requirements, legislation, Health Technical Memorandums, Health Building Notes and other technical documentation
  • Good level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate
  • A sound knowledge of standard spreadsheet packages and computerised estates and project management systems
  • Experience of managing contractors preferred
  • Sound awareness of risk assessment and working safely
  • Experience with Building Fabric/Services
  • Previous FM experience would be an advantage
