Site Technician

You will be working for one of the UK's largest and well known facilities management companies who turnover £3.5 billion in the UK and £16 billion worldwide. They are responsible for a number of large prestigious contracts / buildings within the UK. They employ engineers, help-desk and back house support of facilities maintenance among many other positions. They have over 20,000 UK based staff on over 26000 UK sites.

Our client is now recruiting for a Site Technician.

Main Duties / Responsibilities for the Site Technician:

  • To operate and maintain the plant at the sites identified above in line with existing procedures, thereby fulfilling site health, safety, environmental, quality and customer service targets. This will include identifying areas for continual improvement
  • To ensure that all sites activities under his control are effectively operated to ensure that all third-party contractors who carry out work on the site do so in a safe and professional manner and abide by the relevant Company procedures and site-specific procedures where applicable
  • To follow the company procedures and standards as expressed in the Company Handbooks
  • To complete all administrative functions correctly and efficiently, either paper log books or by using appropriate IT software, e.g. Maintenance Management System (SAM)
  • To become fully familiar with all Company and site procedures, which affect him and carry out all responsibilities detailed in the BMS (Business Management System)
  • To represent the Company to customers and external agencies, by reasonable dress and demeanour and ensure the site and all Company property are maintained in a clean and tidy condition
  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Have an understanding on permit to work systems and all other associated health and safety requirements
  • To successfully undertake relevant CHP "condition based" maintenance tasks in line with manufacturers specifications
  • Provide 24-hour response, diagnosis and repair where required. Call-out on a rota basis in place

  • To assist other Energy Services sites with combustion servicing and troubleshooting as agreed with line manager
  • To ensure that the Operations Manager is kept well informed of all aspects of safety performance, plant performance and customer circumstances which may impact upon the safe, efficient, reliable and cost-effective operation of the plant and smooth operation of the contract

Qualifications required for Site Technician role:

  • ONC/C&G or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (electrical/mechanical)
  • Industrial Steam Boiler/Generator experience (BOAS)
  • Steam Burner/Boiler
  • Valve repair and service knowledge(desirable)
  • Mechanical Training/Knowledge/apprenticeship
  • Knowledge of Regulations (desirable)
  • Maintenance management systems ((SAM FM) (desirable)
  • Familiarity with Gas turbine/Generator sets
