Job Title: Refrigeration Engineer
Location: Glasgow / Ayrshire

Salary: £51,000 + £2,000 joining bonus

This is a key engineering position responsible for carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across multiple commercial sites. You will be the first line of support for all service, maintenance, and repair tasks within your allocated locations.

The role involves maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment, as well as providing support with HVAC systems containing refrigeration circuits. The engineering team provides 24-hour service coverage throughout the year, including extended working hours and participation in an out-of-hours standby rota.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prioritise maintenance and repair tasks to meet agreed response times.

  • Identify non-repairable faults and promptly report findings and replacement recommendations to the line manager.

  • Complete all PPM schedules within agreed timescales, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with required procedures.

  • Maintain all technical and compliance paperwork, keeping records fully up to date.

  • Participate in the out-of-hours standby rota, and arrange any necessary cover during holidays or unforeseen circumstances.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • NVQ/C&G Refrigeration-based qualification

  • C&G 2079 Refrigerant Handling (or equivalent CITB certification)

  • Strong refrigeration, electrical, air conditioning, and mechanical knowledge

Desirable Skills

  • BS7671 (IEE 16th/17th Edition)

  • Commercial or supermarket refrigeration experience

  • Machine overhaul skills

  • Hydrocarbon refrigerant training

  • CO? refrigerant training

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Full UK driving licence
