Job Title: Mechanical Engineer / Maintenance Plumber
Location: South Cambridge area
Salary: Mechanical Engineer – £45,000 | Maintenance Plumber – £42,000
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Call-Out Rota: 1 in 6, with £100 standby and minimum 4 hours paid per call-out


About the Role:
We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Maintenance Plumber to join a dedicated on-site facilities team within a high-profile building. You'll be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responsive repairs across general mechanical and plumbing systems. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated engineer who thrives in a client-facing, well-structured environment with strong team support and long-term stability.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Performing general mechanical building services duties, including plumbing and maintenance of AHUs
  • Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance in line with SLAs
  • Minor installation and small works tasks as needed
  • Legionella testing and compliance
  • Working closely with the on-site team, including Contract Manager, Electrical Engineer, and Fabric Technician
  • Ensuring clear communication and excellent service delivery in a client-present environment

What We’re Looking For:
  • NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering or Plumbing (essential)
  • Previous experience in a building services environment
  • A proactive, reliable attitude with strong fault-finding skills
  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
  • Comfortable in a client-facing role with strong interpersonal skills
