Job Title: Welding Production Technician

Location: Derby

Salary: £32,000 - £34,000 - 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, pension

Job Type: Full-time

Overview:

As a Welding Production Technician, you will be responsible for performing welding operations to manufacture and assemble metal products according to engineering specifications and quality standards. You will work closely with the production team to ensure that welding processes are carried out efficiently and safely. You will be responsible for maintaining welding equipment and tools, as well as identifying and resolving welding-related problems.

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, or Stick welding techniques to join metal parts

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols to determine welding requirements

• Set up and adjust welding equipment to achieve proper welding parameters

• Inspect welded products for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards

• Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to move and position products

• Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance

• Troubleshoot welding-related problems and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and quality

• Maintain accurate welding records, including welding procedures, weld maps, and welder qualifications

• Comply with safety and environmental regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment

Requirements:

• Completion of a welding program or apprenticeship (Not essential)

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in welding production

• Proficient in MIG, TIG, or Stick welding techniques

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols

• Experience with welding equipment, including overhead cranes and forklifts

• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate measurements

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams

• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment

• Professional certifications in welding (e.g. AWS, ASME) is a plus
